Boyle Scouts - Boyle Christmas Cracker

Scouts from both Sections will take part in the Boyle Christmas Cracker event on Saturday 8th December on the Crescent from 3.00 to 6.00pm
We will be situated near the Courthouse where we will be giving out FREE Hot Chocolate and FREE S'Mores.

The name S’Mores is derived from the full  name ‘Some Mores’ which is a traditional night time Campfire treat for Scouts and Guides.

It is very simply made by toasting a marshmallow over an open fire, then placing the hot melted marshmallow between 2 chocolate biscuits, which in turn melts the chocolate, fusing all 3 together to create a mouth watering taste.

The name as it suggests came from the Scouts and Guides repeatedly requesting ‘some more’ of this delicious treat.

Tuesday Night Scouts are rostered as follows:

3.00 - 4.30 pm
Conor Mcgee, James Bolger, Emma Deane, Kian Sweeney, Darragh McTiernan, Rebecca Scally,  Jonah Tighe, Lisa Langan, Cliona mcDermott, Ryan Vesey, Reese Shanley-Tighe

4.30 - 6.00 pm
Rob McHenry, Aine Mullins, Liam McHugh, Sinead Glennon, Roisin Connolly, Diarmuid Power, Ronan Flanagan, Aaron Wright

Challenge Day Success for Boyle Cubs

Boyle Cubs have done themselves really proud once again competing in our Annual County Challenge Day held on Sunday 11th November in Lough Keel Campsite. Three teams from Boyle competed in the event with one of our teams from the Tuesday Night Cub Sections winning the event outright. A great effort was put in by all Boyle teams throughout the day.

Cubs from Boyle, Ballinamore, Carrick on Shannon, Longford and Lanesboro/Ballyleague took part in the competition day with a quiz in the morning followed by various Scouting challenges in the afternoon to test each team on their Scouting knowledge and skills.

Congratulations and well done to all 3 teams and their Leaders. A word of thanks also to all of the Leaders from Boyle and the other Groups who organised and ran a very successful and enjoyable Competition.
Our Boyle team now go forward to represent Lough Keel Scout County in the National Challenge Competition in Maynooth in February. We wish them all the very best of luck.

Scout Meetings

Weekly Meetings will resume for all Sections at their usual times on the week beginning Monday 16th January.
Wishing all our Leaders, Members, Parents, Families and Friends a Happy and Peaceful 2012.

Boyle Scout Group expresses its deepest sympathies to the Madden family on the loss of their husband and father.
Basil, and indeed the entire Madden family gave many years of loyal service and support to Scouting in Boyle as a driver of our Scout Bus, as Leaders, and as Parents Committee and Draw members over the last 30 years.
